National Ice Cream Sandwich Day - August 2nd
It's the perfect summer treat and today we celebrate this beautiful partnership between two beloved desserts, the cookie and ice cream. What more could you really ask for. If you're looking to celebrate outside New York you can flag down that ice cream truck you've been avoiding all summer. New Yorkers, you can do this too or you can stop by one of these delicious bakeries that have been killing the ice cream sandwich game every day of the year.
The Good Batch:
As in the one with the really long line at Smorgasburg, totally worth the wait. Luckily you don't have to wait till the weekend though. The Good Batch has a Brooklyn location serving up these beauties everyday.
936 Fulton St, Brooklyn
Open 7:30 - 7:00 (except Sunday)
Tiny little shops (and carts) devoted to the ice cream sandwich. If you just can't get away from the desk or couch but still want to celebrate this beautiful holiday, Melt will deliver!! They also have so many locations there is bound to be one close by.
Locations in Dumbo, LES, Greenwich Village, Chealea and Madison Sq.
Open 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. (Some locations open later and earlier)
Ok so we all know that City Cakes makes the giant 1/2 pound cookie that is to die for (if you didn't know that, you're welcome). But what could possibly make this cookies any better...yup, 2 scoops of ice cream. Don't worrry, they cut the cookie in half so it's at least possible to eat one on your own, maybe.
251 W 18th St. (in the basement)
Open 11:00 a.m. To 9:00 p.m.
