Dessert Tour: Beacon

ROAD TRIP!

Dessert Tours: NYC hits the road...well, the railroad which is way more fun. On a quick fall trip up the Hudson Valley I stopped in Beacon, NY for a couple days out of the city. I had no idea the desserts that awaited. Of course, had to try a few out and bring you the goods.  Between these treat spots and Dia: Beacon, Beacon is a great one day stop if you need a little get away.

GLAZED OVER DONUTS

I found this place on Google maps before I got to Beacon and I'm not gonna lie, it was probably the #1 must see on my list (no surprise there). The place is beautiful, inside and out plus you get to make your own donut flavor creation. They give you a list of different glazes, toppings and drizzles which can be overwhelming so trust me when I say you'll want to do carmel glaze with pretzels and chocolate drizzle. You're welcome! BEACON BREAD COMPANY

Chocolate. Babka. French Toast...Come on! Ok, I know it's technically not dessert (although, one could argue) but you can get babka (they have cinnamon and chocolate) not french toast style (why) along with some other classic bakery goods including croissants, brioche, scones and cookies plus a selection of breads (was that one obvious). They also have some really fun artwork on display that is for sale.

Crepe

ROYAL CREPE

The classic crepe place, always a solid option.  Royal Crepe has all of the usual options for sweet and savory crepes along with some other Turkish inspired menu items.  I opted for the lemon and sugar, not my usual but still one I love. The crepe itself was delicious (and so pretty right?) but not enough flavor in the filling.  If you go, pile on the chocolate spread and bananas and it will be a huge win!

ALPS SWEET SHOP

In case you're looking for a fun treat to bring back for friends! Alps Chocolate Shop has great pre-wrapped gifts including chocolate coated potato chips (you can bring those back for me), graham crackers and Oreos (oh, those too).  Then there's the case full of truffles, cordials and of course coconut haystacks.
